Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, or “The Swamp,” is widely recognized as one of, if not the toughest, environments for a visiting team in all of college football. Originally constructed in 1930, a series of renovations, has made the stadium a state-of-the-art facility with a seating capacity of 88,48.

Gatorade was invented at Florida Field for players to combat dehydration. In the early 90s, Coach Steve Spurrier noted that  “A swamp is where gators live. We feel comfortable there, but we hope our opponents feel tentative. A swamp is hot and sticky and can be dangerous.” Ben Hill Griffin Stadium has been called              “The Swamp” ever since.
